Stewardship
What is “stewardship”? Stewardship means how we intentionally use and care for the resources (time, talent, treasure) God generously gave us in the first place. Practicing good stewardship is a year-round and lifelong endeavor. However, every Fall we spend time thinking and praying about our stewardship as individuals and as a church and then we invite folks to fill out a pledge card for the coming year. We’re a church with a rich range of ministries, programs, and ways to connect with one another and God. And to succeed in this mission, your financial support is critical.
What is "pledging"? A pledge is simply informing the church what you intend to give in the next year. Filling out a pledge card enables the vestry (the church's elected lay leadership body) to set a budget which pays for our clergy & staff, maintains our building, and develops programs & ministries that bless us and our surrounding communities.
What is "giving"? Giving means the actual contribution (whether you give online, in the offering plate, or through the mail).
**Filling out a pledge card simply means you intend to give; it is not an automatic bank transfer. And, likewise, if you give online but don't fill out a pledge card, we don't know your intentions for further giving (and therefore can't make an accurate budget).
Therefore we encourage people to fill out a pledge card and then give accordingly.

** Please note: You will receive a confirmation email once the Business Manager has recorded the pledge. This may be up to 5 days after you have pledged.**
Capital Campaign
For the past few months we’ve been involved in an intensive capital campaign here at St. George’s Church.
As of today, over $1.7 million has been committed to the Sharing Our Faith ~ Securing Our Future campaign! These resources will be used to address our capital, financial, and other improvement needs. Please read the Case Statement or watch the video below for more information.

Important Reminders:
-
Please make sure all checks for the Capital Campaign are separate; do not “combo” one check to be divided between the Capital Campaign and other donations to the church. We are making this request because Capital Campaign funds are actually held in a separate account from our regular operating expenses bank account.
-
Make sure your personal checks have “Capital Campaign” in the memo line; if it is not marked for the Capital Campaign it will be deposited into our regular operating budget and credited to your Stewardship pledge.
-
If your check is coming directly from a bank or brokerage account, please ensure the bank includes your name and “Capital Campaign” with the check.
-
Donors have three years to complete their contributions. The completion date for all donations will be August 31st, 2028.
-
Bright yellow Capital Campaign-only contribution envelopes are available in the pews and in the Welcome Lounge if you would like to use them; these are optional when making a donation.
-
Contribution statements for Capital Campaign donations will be sent to donors periodically, and will be separate from Stewardship (i.e. operating budget) contribution statements.
Questions about the Capital Campaign may be directed to Mark and Bernadine Greenwood, the co-directors of our campaign. To reach them, please contact the campaign assistant.
