Foundations 5 - Augustine of Hippo, Part 1

Preacher: Ben Phillips

Series: Foundations: The Life, Times, and Theology of the Early Church

Category: History

Augustine of Hippo is one of the great names in Christian History and one of the most read and well known of the Early Church Fathers. His brilliant mind was forged in the tragedies he endured and his personal struggle with sin and evil. His writings on grace, the Trinity, and the sacraments, although initially in his day not widely accepted, had a profound influence on the Protestant Reformation over 1,000 years later. His life was lived in the waning years of the Western Roman Empire and he died, as bishop of Hippo in North Africa, as invading Goth armies lay siege.
