Foundations 6 - Justin Martyr

Preacher: Ben Phillips

Series: Foundations: The Life, Times, and Theology of the Early Church

Category: History

Justin Martyr is one of the first great apologists of Christianity. He sought to defend and explain Christianity in the face of the objections, both moral, cultural, and intellectual, made by the Greco-Roman world. Born in Palestine early in the second century, he converted to Christianity after a long journey through Greek philosophy and ended up living and teaching in Rome. Although Justin rejected the myth and worship of the pagan world, he did not reject out of hand the philosphy of the classical world, but rather sought to see it in light of Christianity, which he called "The True Philosophy".
