Jars of Clay: Active God, Passive People

Passage:2 Corinthians 4:1-12

Preacher: Ben Phillips

Category: Redemption

In the act of salvation God is in fact the active agent and we are rendered passive. We are generally wired to think the reverse, that we are active and that God is passive. But the revelation of Scripture constantly seeks to reorient us to the Truth. In today's sermon we explore Paul's second letter to the Corinthians where he likens believers to jars of clay filled with a heavenly treasure. As we explore this passage, first we must reckon with how we are rendered passive, and then understand and celebrate why it is good that God is the active agent in our salvation. From there we can begin to see our own lives, mission, and ministry more clearly.
