Prepare for Arrival - Life & Times in Advent

Passage:Philippians 1:3-11

Preacher: Ben Phillips

Category: Church Seasons

The arrival of Jesus Christ calls for intentional preparation. Advent is a short season in the year leading up to Christmas. For many of us preparing for Christmas involved shopping, decorating, making travel plans, or plans to host, stressing, juggling, or perhaps even being weighed down by loneliness or painful memories. But this is not what Advent is about. We prepare for Jesus' arrival first by understanding that he has two arrivals - on in the past when he was born in quiet humbleness, and one yet to come, when he returns in glory to judge the world and usher in the fullness of God's Kingdom. In this sermon we will explore the significance of each of his arrivals, and how we actually prepare to celebrate both.
