The Passion and Glory of Easter

Passage:Luke 23:55-24:12

Preacher: Ben Phillips

Easter is a festival of triumph and joy, but to rightly understand Easter we must reckon with the passion, that is, the suffering, that goes with its glory. For Christ first went up to suffer before entering his glory. To rightly understand Easter we must reckon with the suffering and glory of Christ our Substitute, which means understanding the atonement on the cross. The example of the women going to the tomb illustrates the suffering and glory of obedience to him, and the call of the risen Lord to make disciples of all nations carries with it a suffering and glory of the Mission Jesus gives his followers.
