The Unfinished Life

Passage:1 Corinthians 2:1-16

Preacher: Ben Phillips

There is much to be done in a lifetime, and while it is good to have a consistent sense of accomplishment in life (as opposed to feeling 'stuck') the truth is that there is always more to do. This is true individually, in families, and in the church. How we handle this 'unfinished' element to life has huge implications. St. Paul grounds us with the simple and groundbreaking statement which points us to the one thing that is in fact finished: the saving work of Jesus Christ. He states, "for I desired to know nothing among you but Christ and him crucified?" In this sermon we will explore why is this statement so profound, and how it speaks the truth of "It is finished!" into lives that are often dominated by the 'unfinished'.
