Since the 3rd century acolytes have served in Christian worship services. Like their ancient predecessors, members of St. George's Acolytes light candles and assist in various parts of the liturgy, including leading the processions and assisting with Holy Communion. Young people (grades five through college) are invited to consider ministry as an acolyte.
