A fire that doesn't destroy but disrupts

Here in the middle of Luke's Gospel, Jesus gives repeated sober warnings; he even talks about setting things on fire!  The fire Jesus puts in his disciples' hearts -- even to this day -- is a fire that doesn't destroy, but it does disrupt.  It reorganizes us and reorients us towards himself.  And while there will be a cost, challenges to even the most intimate of relationships, the promise of the Gospel is always new, resurrection life, a life better than we could ask or imagine.
