Dazzling Light

We've come to the end of Epiphany this Sunday and this week we start our journey through Lent to the Cross and Easter Day.  But before we climb to Mount Calvary to see Jesus on the Cross, today we come to the mountain top experience known as the "Transfiguration."  This is always the last Gospel lesson we hear before the deep plunge of Lent.  Peter, James, and John see Jesus on the mountain top for who he really is - the meeting place between the glory of God and our human nature.  There on the mountain top, Jesus is bathed in dazzling light, the same light that on Easter will swallow up our darkness.
