Good Friday: Incarnation and Crucifixion

This year is one of the rare instances in which Good Friday falls on March 25, the feast of the annunciation, the date we celebrate Gabriel announcing to Mary that the creator of the world would take on flesh in her womb.  The early church fathers actually believed that this was the historic date of the crucifixion - that it was the full circle completion of Christ work: the virgin womb leads to the virgin tomb; the flesh he took on was the same flesh that bled and died.  It is all one: the Incarnation, the Passion, the Cross, it is all God's singular work for us.
