Knowledge formed in Love
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was part of the Confessing Church, a resistance movement in Nazi Germany. His role was forming pastors to shepherd those Christians who lived as an underground counter-culture, an experience that brought them into close community. This was a daunting experience in which there was little room for polite distance, one that highlighted how Christians ought to love and be loved in the name of Christ and have their knowledge shaped and formed by gracious yet sacrificial love. Knowledge that is worth anything is ultimately fired by love.
